Midcoast Antique Study Club (masc) Now Forming

The Midcoast Antique Study Club (masc) is now accepting charter members in midcoast Maine.  This is an actual club, not a virtual online group.  The purpose of this blog is to grow awareness of the club's existence and to create a forum for dialog between members and non-members on topics of general interest to the group.  Comments from persons are welcome from all geographic areas, worldwide, despite the clubs' membership headquarters in midcoast Maine.

The Midcoast Antique Study Club intends to bring together serious collectors interested in the scholarly  pursuit of 17th and 18th century American furniture, and decorative arts that were available in the American colonies, through foreign trade or importation from England.

In addition to promoting a better understanding of individual items, the group will focus on how early furnishings and decorative arts fit into their historic and cultural context, the prevailing architectural standards of the time, and the historic vernacular in which particular items were produced, sold, and used.

American furniture, English, Dutch, German, and Portuguese Delft and Majolica, British, French, German and Chinese porcelains, ceramics, glass, paktong, silver, brass, iron, textiles, maps, prints and paintings will all be addressed as areas of study and comment.
